Tarpan: A Journey into Imagination
The Concept:
How do you turn a high-speed train into a safe, welcoming world for a child? The project was to create a stylized model of the Ukrainian «Tarpan» train for a dedicated playground at the Kyiv Railway Station. The goal was to maintain the iconic, aerodynamic silhouette of the real locomotive while adapting its interior for play, education, and comfort.

The Design:
This isn’t just a static model; it’s an immersive environment. We took the standard industrial geometries of the railway carriage and softened them for a child’s perspective. Outside, the streamlined nose of the train invites exploration. Inside, the «cabin» is transformed into an interactive hub featuring sensory walls (busy boards), ergonomic seating in vibrant colors, and thematic lighting that mimics the feeling of a real journey.

By blending transport design with «edutainment» (education + entertainment), we created a landmark within the station. It’s a space where the stress of travel disappears, allowing children to become the masters of their own high-speed adventure. The Tarpan Playground proves that industrial design can be both functional for public spaces and magical for those who use them.
